Generally, you can use FaceTime via two means- the FaceTime app and messages. Let’s explore both ways in detail. 

Using The FaceTime App

  1. Open the app and tap on the + icon mentioned on the top-right corner. 
  2. Type in the numbers or names of your contacts with whom you like to have a chat with. You can also tap on the + with the circle to open your contact list. 
  3. Once you have added all the numbers/names, tap on the green button to begin a video/audio call.

  1. Open the app and click on any group chat. 
  2. Tap on the contacts’ icons given at the top of the screen. 
  3. Click on the ‘FaceTime’ icon to begin the call. 

There may be times when you wish to add a participant between a group call. If this is the case, just follow the below pointers- 

  1. Swipe up to reach the menu. 
  2. Click on ‘Add person’ and tap on + to open the contact list. 
  3. Choose the number/name of the contact and tap on ‘Add person to FaceTime’.

  1. Open the app and enter names/email-ids/phone numbers with whom you like to have a chat with. 
  2. In the bottom-left of the screen, tap on the audio/video button. 
  3. All the participants will receive a notification. Once they click on it, they will taken to a new portal, where have to click on the button to join the conversation.

Using The Messages App

  1. Open the group chat and click the ‘Details’.
  2. Tap on the audio/video button to begin the conversation. 

What if you wish to add a participant in an active group call? Just follow the below steps- 

  1. In the lower-left corner of the display, click on the icon (window with a sidebar) to open it. 
  2. Click on ‘Add person’ and enter the name/number/email id of the participant. 
  3. Finally, click on ‘Add’.
